Craft Resources

A selection of my favourite websites and magazines which I will update on an ongoing basis

Websites

The ultimate knitting and crochet website. I love checking up who has made, or is making the same pattern as me. Find me there as FruGirl. Be warned, this site is seriously addictive.

Kind of a sewing version of Ravelry but clunky in comparison. I find it old-fashioned in look and feel, and difficult to navigate round. But there is some really useful information there if you can find it. If I use a commercial dress-making pattern, I like to see what other sewers have made of it.

Excellent sewing website. I love looking at other reader’s creations and admiring their skill and creativity. Some free patterns available plus you can purchase patterns that have appeared in Burda Style magazine

Magazines

Rowan’s famous knitting and crochet magazine (though very few crochet patterns). I love looking at the pictures. Published twice a year.

Lovely knitting magazine (with the occasional crochet pattern) from Germany. Very up to the minute designs. Published quarterly

American magazine with some stunning knits. I adore the “London Calling” section in the Fall 2010 issue

Canadian crochet magazine that probably just has the edge on “Inside Crochet” with its stylish patterns.

Inside Crochet
Best British crochet magazine published monthly with a good selection of patterns.

British sewing magazine that comes with so called “free pattern”. As the magazine costs £5.99 I’d dispute the “free”. Does contain some interesting articles but only worth buying if you like accompanying pattern.

My absolute favourite sewing magazine. Shows you how to recreate the latest fashions from the catwalk. Full of useful tips and creative ideas. My complaint is that it is only published about twice a year
